The periodic-poling (PP) technology is an efficient laser wavelength conversion technology employing quasi-phase matching (QPM). By microstructuring suitable ferroelectric materials, e. g. lithium niobate (LN) or lithium tantalate (LT), the highest non-linear coefficients can be employed to achieve high conversion efficiencies even at lowest input powers. The sophisticated manufacturing process allows for the engineering of PPLN or PPLT crystals tailored for arbitrary frequency conversion processes for full spectrum applications. All periodically-poled crystal products are manufactured by GWU’s partner HC Photonics, a pioneer of the PPLN/PPLT technology.
